It all begins with community.

In Bluff, acts of mutual aid, reciprocity, and volunteerism are the norm here. We are diverse in our passions and skills. By nature, residents and friends of the rural southwest are neighbors, doers, organizers, fixers, and problem solvers.

The Bluff Community Foundation serves initiatives that improve the health and well-being of the greater Bluff ecosystem.

How we work

Success for the foundation is intimately connected to the success of the community. To best nurture an ecosystem of community action, the foundation implements a decentralized model of support led by local stakeholders who determine the priorities of the organization.

We know the most impactful community projects are as diverse as the people who make them happen. We focus on people in our community working on a constellation of localized projects and initiatives.

Our key attributes

  • Being Nimble

Some community needs are systemic and long-standing, but, as we learned with the pandemic, some needs pop up overnight. Small investments in individual initiatives will allow a rapid response to emerging challenges.

  • Locally Driven

The people best equipped to understand community needs are the ones who are working every day to improve it. Decisions will be driven by and for community members.

  • Advancing Equity

Sometimes the people who need help the most are the ones who have the hardest time accessing it. Our local, decentralized approach aims to address this challenge.

  • Building Capacity

Providing support to people doing good work equals more people willing to do good work. Without access to financial support or compensation, many people burn out or shy away from taking on new projects.

Our approach

Supporting existing and fostering new community initiatives

Our model is based on funding the action-takers: people in our community with unique expertise and passions.
